Dear (Insert MP’s Name),

We have 10 years to slash emissions in half or face irreversible climate breakdown.

Canada is still critically short of meeting its Paris Climate Accord target of a 30% reduction of GHGs below 2005 levels by 2030. The global scientific community now recognizes even this target as inadequate to stave off the worst impacts of climate crisis, calling instead for 50 to 60% reduction.

Will you pledge to let the science lead your actions as a member of house? 

Will you demand that your party enacts/supports policies that help us exceed our Paris Climate targets and keep global warming between 1.5 and 2 degrees?

Will you stand up for my children’s future even if it means going against your party’s leadership? 

Will you commit to forwarding a Just Recovery/Transition agenda and work to address the issues of systemic racism and income inequality that make Canadians have to choose between the end of the month or the end of world?

Will you demand an end to fossil fuel subsidies?

Next election, I am voting for someone who answers “yes” to these questions.
